Resolved Override 404 page and offline page

Hello,

After reading the documentation on how to customize these pages I am very confused.
Have added the error.php and the error.css file from the system folder as described in the documentation.
It then says:
"One more thing is that each theme can use different CSS file so that it will have different style".
This is where it gets a bit confusing.
We are told to place the error.css file in the CSS folder.
We are then told that each theme can use a different CSS file.
Directly under that line there is code for the error.php file itself.
Below that code is another line:
"The css files of 404 page in each theme is located in templates/t3_bs3_blank/css/themes/theme_name/".
Please explain how an error.css file located in the css folder can somehow appear - with theme color changes in each color theme folder in the CSS folder.
Or, do we just do a separate error.css file for every theme and then put them in the theme folders ouselves?
I apologize if this makes confusing reading but it's a bit difficult to explain.
It's only when you try to follow the instructions - and you can't make it work - that all the questions arise.
Surely, to make theme color changes an error.less file is needed.
Hopefully, someone can explain what I am missing.

Hi,

Sorry for making you confused. The error.css file in the CSS folder is the global style.

"One more thing is that each theme can use different CSS file so that it will have different style"

For this idea, it's applied for the case that you use multiple themes in one site, for example, you assigned template style A to default theme and template style B to theme B. In CSS folder, you will see the theme folder, copy the error.css to the theme folder and customize for the theme.

Just to clarify, we must put a copy of the error.css file in each theme folder and then customise the error.css file - individually - for each theme. Is that correct!

Could we change the error.css file to error.less and somehow add it to the template.less file. Or must it be a separate file.

Here are our answer for your concern.

A: If you want each theme to have different 404 page style. In case you want all themes to have same 404 page style, just use the error.css in the css folder and remove the error.css file in the theme folder.

Q: Could we change the error.css file to error.less and somehow add it to the template.less file. Or must it be a separate file.

A: No, the error.less is not supported. And adding it to an other file is not recommended.
